Paul’s Reasoning
Just for YOUth…
While Paul spoke to Felix (Acts 24:22-27) he “reasoned” with him. Following God is the reasonable thing to do (Romans 12:1, 2). About what did Paul reason with the king?

On any given Sunday I stand in the pulpit to preach the gospel to an assembly of people. My vantage point gives me the ability to watch things that others may never see.
I saw a couple holding hands while all were singing. What a joy to see a husband and wife together for worship. It surely is a delight as God beholds a family gathered together to worship Him (John 4:23; Psalm 127:1). It is thrilling to see a family filling up an entire pew. Families come to worship because they love God and also love one another (Ephesians 5:23-25). This preacher is thankful for all our godly families.

History reveals that Joshua would take Moses’ place to lead the Israelites into the land of Canaan. God gave order that all that was within the city of Jericho be devoted to Him, nothing was exempt. The next city on the military campaign was to be Ai. However, the Israelites are not victorious against this city! Why? All that was in the city of Jericho was not given to God as He required. Achan has not followed the orders. What led to his disobedience?

What happens when we face hard and difficult times? It is not a question of if they will come, but when? “Yea, and all that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). “Blessed are ye when me shall revile you and persecute you…” (Matthew 5:12). What will the child of God do when the world seems to cave in on him? Where will he go to find the strength to stand rather than stumble and fall?

Recently a news program gave information about changes that affect the population. They reported that on average in 2008 there would be one birth every eight seconds and one death every eleven seconds. That means that the population will continue to increase because births are occurring at a greater rate than deaths. The Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:2, tells us that there is “a time to be born, and a time to die.”

Recently I had a package that said “no tools” were needed to use this product. This was found on the front side. However, when you read the information on the backside it listed “tools required.” At least one tool was needed. The “no tools” needed contradicted the “tools required” statement on the back. Which one should you believe? One thing is for sure. You know both statements cannot be true. It makes you wonder if you can trust the product to work if they don’t know if tools are needed or not.

Often the headlines read “Family lost home in fire.” Because of the cooler weather many are using fireplaces, heaters and other devices to keep their houses warm. Unfortunately these lend to a greater chance of a disastrous fire occurring. A family may lose all the material possessions gained through a lifetime. However, the realization is that human life is also lost in the fire at times.

Paul serves as a great of example to each and every Christian. He said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). More specifically he serves as a great example to preachers. After becoming a Christian Paul became one of the most zealous preachers the world has ever known. Paul began his work as a missionary after having the church pray for him (Acts 13:3). Quite often he would pray for the church (Romans 1:9; Eph. 1:16; Phil. 1:4; 2 Thes. 1:11). But he also knew the importance of prayer on his behalf. He said, “pray for me” (Romans 15:30; 2 Cor. 1:11; Col. 4:3; 1 Thes. 5:25; Philemon 22). Without a doubt prayer was important to Paul. Prayer should be important to every preacher. Would you do something for me? Could I ask you to pray for me?
